Admission

The International School Haarlem offers primary and secondary education in an English-speaking environment. The school welcomes applications from students from all over the world who can demonstrate a need for international education.

Requirements for admission to a DIS (Dutch International School)

DIS are acknowledged and funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Therefore, admission requirements are based on national regulations.

A student will be admitted to an international department if he or she complies with at least one of the following three conditions:

  • The student has a non-Dutch nationality (or: also a non-Dutch nationality) and has a parent who is working in The Netherlands (or in a Dutch border region) for a limited time.

  • The student has a Dutch nationality and has attended an international school abroad for at least two years because a parent was stationed abroad. The parents would like their child(ren) to continue international education after arriving in The Netherlands.

  • The student has a Dutch nationality and a parent (with whom the student will be living) who will be stationed abroad within two years of admission for at least two years. This must be confirmed in writing by the parent’s employer.

We ask parents of prospective students to send us the completed pre-application form through Open Apply, our admission platform. Completing the pre-application form is required before requesting a school visit.

Please note:

At this point, all applications for MYP4, MYP5 and DP (Secondary) are temporarily suspended. This is to be transparent and fair with numbers on our current waitlist. Please check back for further updates as we move through the Winter term.

If families would plan to stay in The Netherlands definitively, please note ITK (Primary) and ISK (Secondary) are only allowed to admit students who have been in the country for less than a year. These schools offer a programme that immerses students in the Dutch language for a maximum of one year, in order to go to a regular Dutch school.
